Intimate Mini Concerts at HurstWorks: Music Up Close this November
By Debbie Clare, HURSTfolk
There’s something truly special about experiencing live music in a small, welcoming space. The connection between performer and audience feels closer, the atmosphere more relaxed, and every note rings with intimacy. That’s exactly what the Mini Concerts at HurstWorks are all about.
On Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November, our much-loved series of bite-sized concerts returns — this time in a brand new venue. HurstWorks, our high street coworking space with a private club feel, will be transformed into a performance setting that’s as stylish as it is inviting. With exposed textures, warm lighting, and a bar serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, it’s the perfect place to settle in for an evening of live music.
Tickets are just £5 per concert, each one a 40-minute set that lets you dip into the festival without committing to a full evening programme. It’s ideal if you’d like to sample something new, enjoy a quick burst of culture, or discover an artist you’ve never heard before.
A Line-Up to Discover
This year’s mini concerts bring together an exciting mix of performers, each offering something a little different:
- Alistair McKenzie – evocative singer-songwriter known for heartfelt melodies and soulful delivery.
- Hector & Gavan – a dynamic duo whose harmonies and energy will light up the room.
- Ian Roland – folk-influenced storytelling with a modern twist.
- Lou Beckerman – jazz vocals full of colour, texture, and emotion.
- Martha Hitt – fresh talent with an expressive voice and striking originals.
- Mike & Reina Reinstein – husband-and-wife pairing blending warmth, humour, and memorable songs.
- Roxie Grant – contemporary songwriter with a knack for capturing real-life moments.
- Sweetwoodruff – folk-inspired sounds with rich arrangements and heartfelt lyrics.
- Tom Butterworth – accomplished guitarist and vocalist bringing depth and versatility to the stage.
Whether you’re drawn to jazz, folk, or singer-songwriter styles, there’s something in the programme that’s bound to resonate.
The Joy of the Mini Concert
Part of the magic of the mini concert format is its accessibility. At just £5 a ticket, it’s an easy way to try something new without pressure. The short set length keeps the experience light and digestible, perfect for fitting around busy schedules or for audiences who want to sample more than one artist across the two days.
For performers, it’s a chance to reach new listeners, share their music in a close-up setting, and connect directly with an appreciative audience. For the audience, it’s about immersion in music at eye level — no grand stage, no distance, just the raw energy of live performance.
A New Home at HurstWorks
Hosting the concerts at HurstWorks this year brings an exciting new dimension. Normally home to coworking, exhibitions, and community events, the space is versatile and perfectly suited to intimate gatherings. With its blend of character and comfort, HurstWorks provides an atmosphere where live music can be savoured — not as background noise, but as the main event.
Pair that with a glass from the bar, a relaxed crowd, and the buzz of discovery, and you’ve got a recipe for a memorable evening.
