Hurstpierpoint Society

The Hurstpierpoint Society, founded in 1962, is a well-supported village charity with more than 1,300 members, all committed to improving and protecting all that we love about our village. The Society trustees take a particular interest in planning issues that might irrevocably damage the appearance and character of this historic village, or the ecology of the surrounding countryside.

Your Interactive Guide to Hurstpierpoint High Street

One of the Society’s most popular projects is the interactive guide to our shops and outlets,  ‘Now & Then’

Based on Derek Rogers’ North and South High Street watercolours (1986-’88), you can now use the ‘Now’ & ‘Then’ buttons to see current and historical views of Hurst High Street. Use the ‘Find’ Box to search for the goods or services you’re looking for, or search by the ‘Find by category’ list. For instance if you’re looking for a restaurant, click on the key word and you’ll see listings of our much-loved local favourites: Morley’s Bistro, Village Pizza Kitchen, The New Inn, The Fig Tree and Nupur.

Read all about it!

The Society’s Autumn Winter 2024 Newsletter is now publicly available – HERE.

The Spring Summer 2025 issue is now out with members. This includes many interesting articles such as: ‘Call to Alms’ – an in depth look at Almshouses in Hurst; Meet our new Committee member – Rob Fisher – local entrepreneur [Ed – that name sounds familiar!]; ‘Conservation & Design Awards 2025 – in full! ;..and more.

Like to join?

You need to join us to see what we’re up to! Remember, there’s no time commitment to just being a member.  If you share a love for our village, like many 100s of others who call Hurst home, we hope you can support us; membership costs just £5 per year or £50 for a lifetime.
