HurstWorks Author Evening 14th November 2024

HurstWorks are delighted to announce our very first author evening, taking place on Thursday 14th November at 7pm.

The evening will feature three local authors who will be reading from their latest work and taking questions from the audience. The event will be hosted by David Andrews and feature Gavin Jamieson and Ciar Byrne. 

Places are limited at 25 people with champagne and canapes on entry from 6:30pm. Tickets cost £10.

About David Andrews

David Andrews is a Hurst based writer and media consultant. His work has been published in a diverse range of publications, and his autobiographical/memoirist stories feature in the collection ‘Ghost Runners of the White Mountains’. 

This collection of short stories was described as ‘a devastating contemplation of love, loss, heroism and the past’ by Sarah O’Grady in the Daily Express.

After a long career in national newspaper journalism, David founded south coast media agency David Andrews Media. He is currently working on a new story collection for publication in 2025.

About Gavin Jamieson 

Gavin JamiesonGavin Jamieson is a publisher, writer and researcher. ‘Water’s Gleaming Gold’ is his first book. As a writer, he has appeared at Henley Literary Festival and Cuckfield Book Festival and he has contributed articles for the BBC, FC Barcelona, The Guardian, The Scotsman, Hear The Boat Sing, Blizzard and ARA Sport. 

Gavin is a Director of Cuckfield Book Festival, working with publishers, sponsors and best-selling authors including Richard Osman, Mel Giedroyc, Adam Kay, Damian Barr, Mark Billingham, Penelope Lively, Natalie Haynes – and many more besides.

After working in academic publishing for over twenty-five years he set up his own consultancy and imprint, Lapwing Publishing Services. 

He has been an invited guest speaker at University College London, University of Strathclyde, Edinburgh Napier University, Leander Club, London Rowing Club, Dan Snow’s History Hit podcast and BrokenOars podcast.

Gavin lives in Mid Sussex with his wife Melissa, their two daughters Ellie and Lili, and their cat Rocky.

About Ciar Byrne

Ciar ByrneCiar Byrne is an author and journalist living in the historic country town of Lewes in Sussex, which has inspired her debut novel.

A Deadly Discovery’ is a Golden Age murder mystery starring Virginia Woolf and her sister Vanessa Bell as a pair of unlikely sleuths.

When Ciar isn’t dreaming up murderous plots involving members of the Bloomsbury Group, she writes about gardening for national publications.
