Julia White artist at work

We’re thrilled to welcome Julia White to HurstWorks as our artist-in-residence until the end of 2025.

Her botanical prints are a celebration of Sussex’s natural beauty, from delicate grasses and flowers to the butterflies that inspire her work. Each piece captures the quiet connections in nature—the cycles, rhythms, and small wonders we so often overlook.

Since moving to West Sussex in 2016, Julia has been exploring both traditional and modern printmaking, combining hand-etched plates, gold leaf, plant-based inks, and delicate papers like banana paper and silk tissue. Her current series, Symbiosis, includes the Whispering Grasses collection and the Seeds of Change triptych, reflecting the changing light and textures of the chalkland cliffs.

Julia’s practice is thoughtful, experimental, and full of curiosity. From solar etchings to digital artworks and plant-based screen prints, she works with patience and care, creating prints that invite us to slow down, notice, and appreciate the beauty around us.

Viewing Evening…

We’ll be announcing her public viewing event very soon—keep an eye out, as it promises to be a great chance to see Julia’s incredible work up close!
