Every village has that one group of people who know absolutely everything — from which building used to be a bakery in 1897 to the story behind that quirky little window on the High Street. In Hurstpierpoint, that group is the Hurstpierpoint Society… our very own community superheroes.
And this year you can meet them in person at HurstWorks on Santa Sunday, 7th December! 🎄✨
📘 “Now & Then”: The Village Time Machine (Minus the Steam and Gears)
If you’ve ever wondered what Hurstpierpoint looked like before coffee shops, roundabouts, or rechargeable Christmas lights, the Society’s beloved magazine Now & Then is your answer.
Think of it as:

Flick through and you’ll suddenly realise how many secrets our High Street has been keeping.

Fancy discovering where the old toll road ran? Or who originally lived in that familiar house you walk past every day? The Society’s historical walks turn the village into a live-action storybook.
These aren’t your average strolls. Expect:

✨ That moment you mutter, “I’ve lived here for years… how did I not know that?!”
It’s part history lesson, part treasure hunt, and definitely worth joining the next time they’re run.

Behind the scenes, the Society is busy making sure Hurstpierpoint stays… Hurstpierpoint.
They keep an eye on planning, protect our green spaces, champion good design, and make sure the village grows in the right way — thoughtfully, beautifully, and with its character intact.
They’re the guardians of the village vibe.
